ACCOMODATIONS

Below deck you'll be impressed with the spacious open feeling. It may be hard to believe you have all this room and comfort on a 38 foot boat.

The GALLEY is immediately to starboard and is easily accessible to the cockpit and main salon. It has a generous wraparound counter with ample work space, drawers, lockers and laminate lined cabinets. The Galley features a newer Force 10 propane stove, double stainless steel sinks, and refrigerator/freezer. Other special features include a slideout trash receptacle, fold-up counter extension, and built-in dish rack.

The MAIN SALON  is large enough to entertain guests but comfortable for an intimate dinner for two. The central hinged table may be either secured against the bulkhead or easily lowered to make a large dining area, which seats 6-7 people. As with all Island Packets, there is an exceptional amount of storage space. Settees are covered with luxurious Ultra-Leather Upholstery. Both settees are full length for added sleeping area with the port side pulling out to make a nice queen-size berth. The cabinetry is beautiful, hand-oiled teak and the abundant light fixtures (ALL ARE LED) and handrails throughout the cabin are well placed.

The hinged top NAV STATION  is at the aft end of the port side salon settee. You'll find a deluxe well labeled electrical panel for all AC & DC functions and all other breakers. A chart drawer large enough for bound chart packs is provided underneath the settee and there is a handy drawer for navigation tools below the table top.

The FORWARD OWNERS STATEROOM  has a large center-line island queen-berth with access from both sides. There is a large blanket chest located beneath the foot of the queen bed that lifts on gas support struts to reveal a large storage area. Drawers, storage bins, and a generous hanging locker provide further storage. The Owner's cabin has a private door to the head.

The HEAD  is huge and can be accessed from the forward cabin or the main salon. It features a nice sized vanity with cabinet below a deep polished oval stainless steel sink. It has a large overhead hatch, opening port, and several lockers for toiletry items. It is made even more spacious with a clever folding shower stall enclosure that stows against the bulkhead when not in use. It also features a full length mirror and fold-down teak shower seat. The holding tank is original and has always been used as a freshwater head.

The AFT CABIN features a large pullman style athwartship bunk with 5" foam cushions and a custom storage cabinet in place of the original sink. It also features a full length mirror and ample storage with a roomy cedar-lined hanging locker and drawers.

The Biggest Pros and Cons

The Island Packet 380, launched in 2002, is a well-regarded cruising sailboat known for its performance, stability, and comfort. Here’s a breakdown of its pros and cons:

Pros

Sturdy Build Quality: The Island Packet 380 features a solid fiberglass hull with a full keel, providing exceptional durability and stability even in rough waters.

Comfortable Interior: The spacious interior is designed with cruising in mind, offering ample headroom, large windows for natural light, and a well-appointed galley that enhances onboard living.

Excellent Storage: The layout includes numerous lockers and storage spaces, making it easy to stow gear for extended trips.

Good Performance: With a balanced sail plan and responsive handling, the 380 offers enjoyable sailing experiences whether you are a novice or an experienced sailor.

Full Keel Stability: The full keel design contributes to better tracking under sail and a stable platform while at anchor, making it ideal for long-distance cruising.

Reputation for Reliability: Island Packet yachts are known for their seaworthiness and long-lasting performance, making the 380 a trusted choice among cruising enthusiasts.

Cons

Initial Cost: As a quality cruising yacht, the Island Packet 380 may have a higher purchase price compared to other similar-sized vessels, which can be a consideration for budget-conscious buyers.

Weight: The sturdy construction, while beneficial for stability and durability, results in a heavier boat that may not be as quick or responsive as lighter vessels.

Draft: With a relatively deep draft due to its full keel, the 380 may not be suitable for shallow waters or quick beach access.

Limited Speed: While it handles well, the cruising performance may not be as fast as some performance-oriented sailboats, which could be a downside for those seeking speed.

Older Models: As a 2002 model, potential buyers should be mindful of the condition of the boat and any upgrades or maintenance needed based on age. Ultimately, the Island Packet 380 offers a blend of comfort, sturdiness, and reliable performance, making it an appealing choice for serious cruisers, while its weight and price may be factors for some buyers to consider.
